Nitrous oxide — light and reversible
Breathed through a small nasal mask, 'laughing gas' takes the edge off within minutes. You stay awake and responsive, and the effect clears within minutes of removing the mask — you can drive yourself home.
Oral sedation — deeper calm
A prescribed tablet taken before your visit brings a deep, drowsy relaxation. Many patients remember little of the appointment. You'll need a companion to drive you, and we monitor you throughout.

Tell us what you need
When you book, mention that you're anxious — or that you'd like sedation. We'll review your health history and medications and recommend the level that's right and safe for you.
Prepare, simply
Nitrous needs no preparation. For oral sedation, you'll take the prescribed tablet as directed before your visit and arrive with someone to drive you home.
Relax while we work
With your sedation in effect and the tooth fully numb, treatment proceeds calmly. We monitor you throughout, and often complete more in one visit than would otherwise be comfortable.
Recover and go home
Nitrous clears in minutes. After oral sedation, you'll rest until you're steady, then head home with your companion and take the rest of the day easy.

What levels of sedation do you offer?
Two. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is breathed through a small nasal mask for light relaxation — you're awake, the edge is gone, and it wears off within minutes. Oral sedation is a prescribed tablet taken before your visit for a deeper, drowsy calm; you'll remember little and need someone to drive you. We'll help you choose at booking.
Is sedation dentistry safe?
Nitrous oxide and oral sedation are among the most widely used and well-studied options in dentistry. Before any sedation we review your health history and medications to confirm it's appropriate for you, and we monitor you throughout the visit. Tell us about every medication and condition, including sleep apnea — that's how we keep it safe.
Will I be asleep?
Not fully. With nitrous you're awake and relaxed. With oral sedation you're deeply drowsy — many patients doze and remember very little — but you can still respond to us. Neither is general anesthesia, which is part of what makes them safe and simple to recover from.
Can I drive after sedation?
After nitrous oxide, yes — it clears within minutes of removing the mask. After oral sedation, no: you'll need a companion to drive you home and should plan on resting for the rest of the day.
Can I have sedation for a cleaning?
Yes. Sedation isn't only for big procedures — if anxiety has kept you from routine care, nitrous oxide during a cleaning can be the thing that gets you back on track. Just mention it when you book.
What does sedation cost?
Nitrous oxide and oral sedation each carry a modest fee on top of your treatment, and we'll tell you the exact amount before your visit. Dental insurance rarely covers sedation; we're insurance-independent and happy to explain the figures in plain language.
