Save the tooth.
End the ache.

A root canal removes infected or inflamed nerve tissue from inside a tooth, relieves the pain it was causing, and lets you keep the tooth for years to come. Done with modern anesthetic and a calm hand, it feels much like getting a filling — and far better than the toothache that brought you in.

A calm, modern treatment suite at AGAVI Dental Studio in Cypress, TX

Why AGAVI

Root Canal Treatment, done differently.

Comfortable, start to finish

We don't begin until the tooth is fully numb — and we check. Nitrous oxide or oral sedation is available if you'd rather drift through the visit. Most patients are surprised by how uneventful it feels.

Seen in three dimensions

Cone beam 3D imaging shows the shape of each root and canal before we start, so treatment is planned on your anatomy — not estimated from a flat x-ray.

Finished under one roof

A treated back tooth usually needs a crown to protect it. Ours is designed digitally in the studio and matched to your bite and shade, so the whole tooth is cared for by one team.

The Process

Considered, start to finish.

Every step explained before it happens, in plain language — that's the AGAVI way. Here's how root canal treatment unfolds here.

  • Same-day evaluation for toothaches
  • Digital x-rays and cone beam 3D imaging
  • Profound local anesthesia, verified before we begin
  • Nitrous oxide or oral sedation on request
  • Final filling or in-house designed crown
  • Referral to an endodontist for complex cases
01

Diagnose the pain

An exam, digital x-rays, and 3D imaging where it helps tell us whether the nerve is involved — and whether a root canal, a filling, or something else is the right answer.

02

Numb, calm, and ready

Profound local anesthetic, with nitrous or oral sedation if you choose. We confirm you feel nothing before a single instrument is picked up.

03

Clean, shape, seal

The inflamed tissue is removed, the canals are cleaned and shaped, and the tooth is sealed from the inside. Most root canals take one or two visits.

04

Protect the tooth

A filling or, for most molars, a crown restores strength and appearance. Then the tooth simply goes back to being a tooth — with regular check-ups like any other.

Good Questions

Root Canal Treatment, answered honestly.

Does a root canal hurt?

The procedure itself shouldn't — modern anesthetic makes the tooth completely numb, and we confirm that before we begin. What hurts is the infected tooth beforehand; the root canal is what ends that pain. Mild soreness for a day or two afterward is normal and usually handled with over-the-counter pain relief.

How do I know if I need a root canal?

Common signs include a lingering toothache, pain when biting, sensitivity to heat or cold that doesn't fade, a darkened tooth, or swelling and tenderness in the gum near it. Sometimes there are no symptoms and the infection shows up on an x-ray. Only an exam can say for sure — call us and we'll see you promptly.

Is it better to just pull the tooth?

Usually not. Keeping your natural tooth preserves your bite, your jawbone, and the teeth around it, and a root canal plus crown is typically less involved and less costly than an extraction followed by an implant or bridge. There are cases where a tooth can't be saved — we'll tell you honestly if yours is one, and lay out the replacement options.

How many visits does a root canal take?

Most are completed in one or two visits, each usually under 90 minutes. If a crown is needed afterward, it's planned as part of the same treatment — and because we 3D-print crowns in-house, yours can usually be made and placed the same day.

Will you do my root canal, or refer me out?

Dr. Alvey performs root canal treatment here in the studio for most teeth. Unusually curved or calcified canals, retreatment of an old root canal, and a few other situations are better in the hands of an endodontist — a root canal specialist — and we'll refer you to one we trust when that's the right call for your tooth.

What does a root canal cost in Cypress?

Fees vary with the tooth — front teeth have one canal, molars three or more — and with whether a crown is needed afterward, so we quote after seeing your x-rays, in writing and before we begin. We're insurance-independent and file out-of-network claims for you if you have benefits; financing is available.

“Ok real talk, I'm scared of the dentist fr. Hadn't been in a minute… like a LONG minute 😬. But I walked into AGAVI and bro, the whole spot looks like a resort. Lowkey had me calm the second I walked in, no cap. They greeted me like I was checking into a vacation spot. Check-in was all on my phone, quick, no clipboard stuff. Then they did a full exam with all the new tech and even scanned my teeth in 3D. Meanwhile I'm just chillin watching the TV on the ceiling like it's nothing. After that they put everything up on a big screen, my x-rays and pics of my teeth, and broke it all down. They answered every question I had and never made me feel dumb about how long it'd been. La neta, that meant a lot. Then they got me in for my cleaning right away, and ong I needed it BAD. My teeth and my whole mouth feel so clean now, like brand new. I've never walked out of a dentist feeling like this. I already told them I'm doing my veneers there. Can't wait. If you're scared of the dentist like me, go to AGAVI. 10/10 🔥🦷”

“I went to Agavi dental studio as a new patient. First off, the waiting room and whole office feels and looks and even smells like a tropical Tulum resort spa. The effect is elevated and calming. On arrival I was greeted warmly and offered a cool scented face towel and refreshment like when you arrive at a nice resort. Check in was easy and digital. They did a full exam with the latest tech. They even scanned my teeth in 3D! They did all this while I relaxed watching the overhead TV. They also presented the exam results on a nice big screen where they showed my Xray’s and pictures and answered all my questions. I only needed a cleaning, which I got right away, and again it was a calm experience and my teeth have never felt cleaner! With the resort like experience and great customer service, I look forward to my next visit.”
